Joe Cabral is a well know magician from Waterbury, Connecticut who been delighting audiences with his signature mix of magic, story telling, dark humor and theatrical flair for over 30 years.
I first met Joe in 2021 when we performed together, along with magician Andy Morgan, in “Le Bal des Revenants” (the Spirit Ball) at the Stanley-Whitman House museum in Farmington, Connecticut. Although we did a dozen or so shows together, I never actually got to see Joe perform. The show had each of us performing simultaneously in own performance space in the museum. The audience would rotate from one performer to the next between acts. It was a delightful show about ‘reconnecting’ in a time when pandemic restrictions were lifting.
In 2023, Andy brought Joe and I together again for the “Spirits and Magic” show at the charming Lyric Hall in New Haven, CT. It was at Lyric Hall that I was able to film Joe performing a few of his signature routines. Enjoy!
Joe is beloved for his involvement in and contributions to the magic community spanning decades. Here are a few highlights:
- Member of the Society of American Magicians Assembly No. 127
- Editor of Arcanum, a quarterly manuscript dedicated to magic, from 1992 to 1995.
- Member of the Eternal Order of the Immortals and Inner Council Member of the Eternal Order of the Immortals 2005.
- Founder and President of the Inner Circle of Bizarre Magick, a group dedicated to the art of magic as legitimate theater and recognized internationally for its contributions to magical entertainment.
- Award Honoree: In 2010 Joe was honored by the New England Magician’s Conference.
